Explain to me, the layman. What is the role he plays in a football program, and why is this person especially good at it?

Thanks, especially liked that he said ultimately they are all judged by wins and losses and if you don't like it, you'r in the wrong business. Yes.

 

He does everything so the head coach can focus on the team and specific recruits.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but he also does a lot of scouting and definitely does a lot of interfacing with the network of High School coaches both in and out of state.

Anyone know why he left LSU... Opportunity to come home? Something else?

Seems like he had a lot of respect for the folks he was working with at LSU and even credits Coach O for getting him his start.

 

Speculation that he may be being groomed to take over as AD in the future.

 

With the 10th assistant spot coming soon do you move him there and make it strictly a recruiting position? Having him as a coach allows him to be on the road recruiting

 

I know I’d rather live in East Tennessee than southern Louisiana. Talk about an environmental upgrade!

 

He does way more than recruit

 

Hopefully the assistants hired are good enough that he winds up sliding into a recruiting role fairly regularly.

 

He wanted to come home

He went on the road for LSU. They pulled their DL coach off for him.
