I think he’s there every day and knows better than us how the team would respond either way. At least I hope.
We're going to be relying heavily on our defense and FG kicker to win us the game. Turnovers and field position will play a huge part as to whether we have a chance at winning.
Pruitt can't start JG. He and people around him have to realize the big picture with recruits, teammates, etc. Have to.
Pruitt needs to do whatever gives them a chance on Saturday. they win and no one cares about this. they lose and everyone will be scrutinizing this decision either way. so he needs to do whatever it takes.
I think you are right. I just am not sure it will always be. Keep starting JG and losing, and a sizeable portion of this fanbase is going to go into mattress burning mode.
JG should never have been the presumptive starter. JG shouldn't have even gotten reps against Chattanooga, nor played afterward unless there were injuries. But JG is where we are, now.
I think the immediate reaction to JG (if its him) is not going to be pretty. The aftermath if they don't win and JG has another moment or 2 that is the catalyst will be on another level. I think from a perspective standpoint, if he's gonna lose, Shrout gives him more insulation. At least from the fanbase.
Could be. I think you could take the heat off him early by jumping in the wildcat with Jennings and Chandler right off the bat. If I played Shrout he would get to see how far he could throw one early to Palmer or Callaway. Like the first throw.
even if he passes the protocol, I don't think you can play Maurer. and maybe, honestly, you can't for a long while. just read Ubben's article and he talks to some brain injury specialists. kinda sobering, in terms of what is best for his health at this point.
If you rest him until UK, that gives him 3 total weeks from when the last concussion happened to the next game he plays. Thatd be as conservative as I could get with it. Best case scenario is he is cleared for this weekend, by doctors, we decide to hold him out, play him against UAB for a half, and then rest him the rest of the way. That would at least give him some live game reps before he goes back out again.
He played QB for coffee co. If he was not on the team that would have been the worst high school team if ever seen.
Maurer practiced today but was limited. Shrout and JG took bulk of reps. Ubben said Shrout was first in drills.
On the field today. I dont think he's had one yet. He's had his bell rung but if it had been anything bad at all he'd not be on the field yet even for practice.
