If you guess it twice in a single word, the second one will be grey if there is only one or yellow if there is a second one. You can't assume there is only one. It is logic by elimination and a letter being found does not eliminate the presence of two of that letter. This game would be way harder at 6 or 7 letter words, but you have 30 guesses for 5 spaces and the 5 spaces have to be a word. It is not really about eliminating letters, but eliminating words.
I was annoyed today. I had the XX_X_ on my second guess and somehow didn’t guess the right answer on my third.
The way I play probably prevents me from getting many 3s and 4s. I have been gathering letters each pass pious gamer etc. And when I have gathered up 3+ letters I start guessing.
The only reason I got it right is that I looked at the rules before my 6th guess to see if it said anything about using a letter twice and 'PILLS' was used in one of the examples.
It depends how successful my first word is. If I don't have much to go on I'll use another word to check more letters. Fortunately, today I had everything, but the vowels identified after 2 and there wasn't much it could be other than the word. I also never check this thread until I'm done, don't want any hints.
How the hell do you get it in 3 without any kind of clue as to what the word is? It isn't like they give you a hint. But then again, games like Scrabble and Boggle have never been my forte.
