What do you wear at the gym? I got a nice new pair of Asics over the Xmas holiday, which I absolutely loved from a comfort standpoint. But after returning two different pairs of them due to rips on the bottom of the left shoe after only a few times wearing them, I need to go with something else. All recommendations welcome. Primary use will be treadmill running, normal lifting, and the occasional basketball pick up game. The basketball was the cause of the tear on both pairs of Asics, methinks. Feel free to post pictures of your shoe choice, if you'd like.
you shouldn't get a single pair of shoes to double as treadmill running shoes and basketball shoes. Very different demands from a shoe. I wouldn't consider running in my basketball shoes nor would I play ball in my running shoes.
Definitely. I'd also suggest getting profiled/fitted for running shoes, depending on how much you plan to run. Makes an enormous difference, imo. I run in Saucony and love them, but the right shoe will vary by person.
My other half loves Brooks Pureflow (excluding the 3s). Saucony Cortanas for me, though they've now been discontinued. Will likely give the Zealots a try next.
store bought. They have a couple of lines of shoes that just work for me. Their GTS shoe is money and I used to run solely in them, but their Transcend is the most cushioned shoe I've ever used. I have a bit of overpronation, so that suits me well. I have two pair and just rotate them. Knee doesn't let me run enough, but they help. I use custom orthotics in any shoe to make them work for me.
