That team could ball. Jennings could shoot drive and pass. Talford could jump out of the gym and they had another forward who was an Anthony Mason type player. Built like a middle linebacker.
They had 2 like that, Rodney English & Marty Story. Both were awesome dudes too. Don't forget they lucked into a 6'11" center in Greg Dennis that wasn't terrible at shooting 3s. He was recruited as a 6'5"/6'6" guard and grew 6"-7" by the time he got to ETSU. Major Geer & Alvin West could shoot too. But Talford was unbelievably athletic. I saw him have to reach down to dunk a ball once. He won the slam dunk competition one year. Beating NC State in the MiniDome on national TV was good times. Tom Gugliotta was an ******* in that game. That ETSU team made it to a #5 ranking. I think Mister played for Golden State a couple of years. Rodney English & a freshman on that team, A Travis Silvers kid I think, played for the Globetrotters. Talford played overseas. I still see him at our hs gym occasionally playing pick up games. He still could jump last time I saw him. But he talked like Michael Jackson- soft & high-pitched.
Only if he's wide open. Being the 3rd option has it's benefits. Derek fisher hit a number of game winning 3s under the same circumstances.
Good choice. I remember him wearing the generic NBA jersey to defend his 3 point contest title because he wasn't on a roster.
