    That's just the modem. Since I only get 100 mbs, and Comcast only offers up to 300 mbs in my area, I got the first one over a year ago. Has already paid for itself.

    I can play online while my wife streams Netflix without a hitch. I'll usually be streaming music too.

    What it be better to just buy a gateway? Or is it better to have a router and a modem?

    I've never had great luck with the combo gateways, especially with the wireless coverage. Even when I was in an apartment, the coverage was spotty at best.

    I'd rather pay a little more and get 2 devices that do a top notch job at their respective task than get one that does the 2 tasks adequately.

    That router I linked is actually a lightning deal on Amazon today, so it's $15 off.

    Makes sense and I also see that with the gateway I'm using now and past gateways. I'll just pony up the extra coin. Thanks.
