Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg faces $1 billion tax bill - Mar. 28, 2013 he should fire his financial advisor btw. waiting till the stock goes public to exercise your options is pure stupidity.
true, i'll take that type of problem anyday. though zuckerberg didn't sell any stock to pay the taxes so i assume he's going to have to get a loan.
Can't say I've ever seen a tax bill that high. Wow. I've seen a few 7 figure tax bills on 1040s, then again, I don't work on a ton of them either.
Most high-wealth people I speak/deal with don't necessarily mind paying the taxes, they just resent everything that has been discussed on this board ad nauseum 500 times.
oh he'll get it practically for free. just call up morgan stanley (the facebook underwritter or anyone else really) and they'll fall over themselves to get that business i assure you.
Actually, when it comes to lump sum windfalls, I don't know if I've ever had anyone say a word. It's more of the perennial taxation that causes issues.
I also hope he made his estimated payment by 6/15. I'd hate to see what those interest and penalties add up to.
