how the hell did avatar make so much money then? I'm a junky, I try to see almost any remotely scifi movie that I can.
I think it had a ton of appeal at the time because of the effects, just nothing that lasted. At one point I felt like I was the only person who didn't see it.
It was the first movie to use 3D correctly i.e. subtleties with depth, not in your face, and it was visually stunning. The story itself required about 30 seconds of thought before Cameron called it done.
I'm really not sure how you do a 2 or a 3, but Hollywood is extremely adept at creating shitty trilogies.
It's a movie about comics characters, so I'm not trying to be condemning. Still, the Endgame time travel plot with the stones has all the subtlety and complexity of the time travel aspects of Bill & Ted.
