Lets figure this out. Ones you rewatch specifically. Ones that are overrated, like Princess Bride and Blues Brothers.
Neither of those two movies is overrated. Both are some of the best cinema made. Hoosiers is another one that if I flip by it my remote control suddenly stops working and won't leave the channel.
Shawshank. Early Bourne movies were very good. Equalizer was solid Sicario was excellent Seabiscuit The Fugitive
The Fugitive is a great movie. Will watch that over and over. Tommy Lee Jones in his best part. My favorite movie of all time though is Casablanca. Not a wasted shot or word.
The timeout scene when Jimmy says, "I'll make it", gets me just thinking about it. Problem with Hoosiers is when it came out, some coaches started the minimum passes deal and it didnt work out so well in Memphis vs teams' man to man pressure.
Dumb and Dumber Napoleon Dynamite. From which my family still uses many quotes, and we went to see at Schemmerhorn recently for the 15th anniversary. Packed house.
great: LA Confidential Silence of the Lambs Children of Men Michael Clayton Overrated: Forrest Gump American Beauty Traffic Gladiator
The problem with this thread is that some seem to be interpreting movies which are “great” versus which they “greatly enjoyed” As no honest discussion of truly great movies can involve the likes of “Princess Bride” and “Spaceballs”, I assume the correct reading of “great” to be the latter of those two definitions.
Great Movies (in no order, and not exhaustive): 1. The Godfather 2. The Godfather II 3. Shawshank Redemption 4. Pulp Fiction 5. Forest Gump 6. Schindler’s List 7. Amadeus 8. To Kill a Mockingbird 9. Jaws 10. Dances With Wolves 11. Goodfellas 12. Patton 13. Rocky 14. Star Wars
The Princess Bride is a great movie. It may not be your cup of tea (or coffee), but it is a truly great movie. Spaceballs is a good and fun movie, nothing revolutionary about it or anything, but damn is it fun to watch.
