Fun stat I saw this morning. After 4 games, the player with the highest rushing total against the Eagles is...……….Aaron Rodgers.
Whistle was blown. People can argue about whether it was “dirty,” but it was certainly unnecessary and an obvious penalty.
It's definitely unnecessary and in today's game is an obvious penalty. I don't think it's "dirty", it's the way the game was taught up until a few years ago, for better or worse.
The running back was stacked up and being pushed backward. Barnett going after him would even knock him forward. Because it's in his play style to make these hits doesn't make it less cheap. Barnett even goes hat on hat, aside from just sandwiching the dude, to knock him out.
Except he’s leading with his shoulder. Whistle wasn’t blown until he’s inches away, and RB was still pumping his feet fighting for yards. It’s not a cheap shot, it’s a football play.
It's cheap, regardless of how you spin it. You can call it a football play, old school, whatever. That dude was wrapped up and the definition of defenseless - Barnett didn't give a [uck fay]. Just rocked him. Unnecessarily. RB is pumping his feet because the two guys who have him wrapped up are pushing him backwards.
Hardesty was defenseless until he wasn't and housed one against Cal. Play until the ball carrier is on the ground or the whistle is blown.
Its when the whistle blows, period. Did the player have time to react after the whistle, or did he not. The whistle, not anticipation of a whistle. The HS footage posted here of his cheap shot or whatever is funny
Ok. So he was still trying and still in play. Barnett is within his right to keep trying too; pop him hard enough and maybe cause a fumble. Not unnecessary or cheap at all.
Risk [uck fay]ing another person up while he’s essentially being held as a tackling dummy by two defenders. I’d hate to play horseshoes or darts against you lot. All’s fair, apparently
