Just watched the 3/31 post practice presser. In this interview Dooley seemed alot more optimistic than he did in the one on Thursday. TIFWIW. Is it possible that on Thursday he was just frustrated with the Da'Rick situation and that is why he seemed so anal?
Hill and Cross were almost the exact same back. Hill is slightly faster. Cross is a harder tackle. Hill may be moved to FB later but I'm sure he gets a shot at RB first, especially with our lack of depth. I stand by my statement, Cross will be a better back. He was, literally, the only option on his team to advance the football and every defense knew it. Yet, he still had over 8 YPC in AAA Ga Football.
I don't think Chaney or Dooley is really all that high on the FB position. Might just try to phase it out this year. I realize we used a FB an awful lot last season, but I don't think we were really doing what we wanted on offense, either.
John Brice said today on Big Orange Sunday with Doug Matthews that Alden Hill has been practicing as a fullback. He pretty well reiterated what everybody else has been thinking/saying, in that for the first time, this team passes the eye test, but still has lots of work to do.
Do then is Raijon Neal a full time RB or what? Seems like our depth chart right now is something like this: Lane - still hasn't proven he can really be the man Neal - fumble machine Smith - very little action and seems like he was passed up by bite-sized walk-on last season Toney - got a few touches last year but don't think the coaches really like him Young - gadget guy And we'll add a couple of other freshmen in the Fall. Not all that stoked about that.
