What's great about this gif is that it shows that the runner was a competent, talented one with good blocking. You know, before he met Eric Berry.
I was at that game in the nose bleeds where GA relegates visitors opposite the side of the play. We were like a mile away and you could hear and feel that hit. The GA crowd groaned at the hit. The RB was slow to get up.
Best pure football player I ever saw here. Eric Berry and Al Wilson are the only 2 jerseys I’d consider wearing. Never been comfortable wearing another man’s jersey, but gods are a different story.
Nothing against Deion Grant(he was a total stud in his own way and had iconic moments on a natty winning team), but Eric Berry was the greatest and likely will remain the greatest safety any of us will ever see in Tennessee orange throughout our lifetime. Dude was simply the perfect safety. I've never seen a safety single handily have an impact on a game like he did. He always knew exactly what to do and where to be on the field. The ball always somehow found him. I seriously don't remember him ever blowing his assignment for even one play during his UT career.
The list of great college players at UT is a really, really good one. Eric Berry is one of them. Add in he is a legacy, what he did when facing personal adversity and just a good old fashioned good guy. And I agree, his ability to affect the game from safety was amazing. I am thankful that I got to watch him.
Half wonder if we’re gonna get a surprise jersey retirement today. If there’s anyone else that deserves it, it’s him.
