Let me clarify- Taking the play calling/offensive style and OL he is contending with into consideration, Hurd's numbers (1288 yds, 4.7 ypc, and 12 TD's) are extremely good. Don't get me wrong, those other RB's are obviously great too. If roles were reversed and he played on one of those teams how much more success would he have? How much success would those other RB's have if they played for the Vols the last couple of years?
Hurd would be better and they'd be worse. He's the second best back in the conference. Chubb is a close 3rd. Hurd has spent two years running behind a terrible offensive line with even worse OCs. His numbers are borderline miraculous.
Let me put it this way: if you lined up all the backs in the country and told me that I had first pick, and then you stopped me just before I chose and said, "Sorry, we've made a mistake. You have to take Hurd," I would be just fine with that.
If Hurd played behind Alabamas line with Alabamas coaching, he would have made Henry look like a [itch bay] by comparison. Edit: let's not forget Henry's volume either. Hurd in that situation would have actually deserved the Heisman
