Tee box kills him. Sprays the ball too poorly for most major setups. British gives him best shot because it keeps driver in bag.
The other part is these young golfers aren't intimidated by Tiger like his peers were. They welcome the challenge.
They all grew up WATCHING Tiger. They all smack the ever-loving piss out of the ball. I remember reading an interview with Nick Faldo about how after Tiger came on the scene, he completely changed how he was teaching his daughter to play. He went from steady tempo swings and not worrying about distance to smack the shit out of it and we will straighten it out later. You cannot put the distance back into a swing after the fact. Or at least, it is very hard.
Yup. There was a Duval quote a few months ago, and after reading it my only thought was that was why you could never compete with him consistently.
I'm playing in the Tennessee charity outing in Charlotte, Friday before WVU game. Only chance our 4some has of winning anything is the raffle drawings.
I think guys on our HS team shot mid 80s. They didnt train or have this technology. Golf team was dudes that liked to smoke and could stripe the ball. My golf buddys son, Riley Grindstaff, is one of the top 15 year olds in the state. He plays in our game at times and fires 69-72 on a 132 slope like its nothing. Game, equipment and athletes playing it have come a long way.
My logic in this thread has been perfectly fine. You’re letting past experiences cloud your judgement of current situations.
And what makes you think he can’t correct that long enough to win another major? His performance this past weekend suggests he doesn’t have to improve much at all to get over the hump.
Driver has been killing him for 15+ years. He can overcome it, but the days of him just overpowering a course are long over. I don't think he can win a US Open for instance. The rough will just ruin any chance he has.
