The government should bail them out.

I wonder if their donations are way down now that the Obama boogeyman is gone?

That’s probably a big part of it. No matter which side, everyone needs a boogeyman.

It’s almost like they got what they wanted, and then realized they didn’t have much purpose after that. Odd.

I don't remember them being so political when I was younger. Perhaps they lost their way and their appeal to the common gun owner has waned similar to what many Churches have done by being so political.

They were more "overthrown" than anything. A short, interesting read:

If what the NRA is alleging is just halfway true it is scary. Essentially that the power of the NY Governor and AG can apply pressure to financial services entities to block organizations like the NRA from getting things like insurance.

    Agreed.

Now how would they do that?

When I was growing up, one if their main focuses was teaching, educating youth on gun safety. We had NRA gun safety classes in our Scout troop.

I agree they seemed to me more directed to the individual back in the day. Over time it seems that they have been co-opted by the gun manufacturers to get us to buy more guns and ammo.

So n of 1, with a possible few more?

That does not a block make. That does a difficulty make.

A block does seem far fetched.

I think more emphasis on gun safety and responsible ownership practices would be universally appreciated.

Well, unfortunately, it won't be from the NRA, unless there is money involved. Like Trump, they are enamored with gaining a piece of that Russian marketshare.

Insurance companies should stop being such snowflakes.

Or perhaps they are afraid to be associated with a group with a questionable recent history & are uncomfortable with the removal of any financial reporting requirements opening them up to guilt (for lack of a better term) by association with some folks they would rather avoid. Maybe they just don't want to be associated with what the NRA has become & are using NYDFS as a convenient cover as an exit.
