I don’t necessarily disagree that it shouldn’t be called, though I think if you reverse the teams and the exact same thing happens it’s a massive story, but “can’t contact at all downfield” is simply not true.

 

Only way he’s not back next year is if he gets a G5 coaching job. With his ties to the Midwest, the MAC would seem like the best fit. Outside of Jason Candle getting a P5 job, may not be any MAC jobs come open this year.

There’s a reason they weren’t replaying the shit out of it on CBS. If you flip the script they sure would have. I wouldn’t call it an egregious no call but to chalk it up just to hand fighting is a bit much. Defender makes minimal contact and to no effect, and then Bama WR creates 100% of the separation with the push off.

Imo if the db knew the ball was coming and pushed while making a play on it, more likely to be called.
