Three - Maurer, Bailey, and the VA Tech transfer Hendon Hooker. I think Salter will end up back on the team but I don’t see him being a factor this year
Nah. He's still the worst QB to ever play meaningful snaps at UT. Maurer running the read option or scrambling on 99% of our offensive plays would have been a better option. Having another center under center who snaps the ball a second time to no one would have been a better option. Bailey throwing every pass with his left hand would have been a better option. Using Gray and Chandler like Arkansas used Jones and McFadden would have been a better option.
Looking back on JG and thinking he was the best option just isn't going to happen. We could have abandoned the passing game entirely in the second half of games and finished with a better record because of it.
many on the team did not want to play with JG leading the way, and it showed. They were as mentally drained by it as us, and didn't feel he could lead them to be where they wanted and needed to be.
Wait, what? I admit I haven’t been keeping up with every single tidbit of UT football news here lately but I thought Maurer transferred out. What happened to Salter? Is Henry T back or nah? Backsliding fans need answers.
I think I was confusing Maurer for Shrout, but I remember the rumors about Maurer leaving for sure. Glad he stuck around. I like Bailey, but I’m not sold on him as the #1 just yet.
He will play decent at Wazzu. Playing in front of 11,000 people vs 90,000 will make him shit his pants less frequently.
For lack of any better explanation, if this is in fact true, perhaps JG now has the benefit of a coaching staff that knows the ways of the QB force.
