I thought he was talking about Democratic leadership or major media folks, in which case I would say that isn't true. I might have misread.
He was talking about far left, and leadership is not even close to far left. Major media either. He was a guest host on a talk show, media likes him.
IP, you are a hell of a lot smarter than this. Of course they're not going to come right out and say it, at least not those on the left. You have to ask why he is always singled out and framed as a racist by the far left. They've labeled him a racist, a corporate shill, not a real veteran, not the right kind of gay, a rat, a CIA plant and on and on. And still, months after he left the race, they continue to tear at him. Not the far right, but the far left. Why? What makes him different? We gays know what this shit is as many of us have lived it. Now, I do believe it is largely unconscious, but it's homophobia nonetheless.
100%. The big lie is thinking the LGBT community is free of homophobia when it has it's very own brand. We're not pristine on this front. Ask gay people of color about the racism which exists in the community. Ask bisexual folks or trans folks how they are treated by other members in the community. Gay folks can be plenty ugly.
Who is the far left you refer to? I see SJW types still going at him. I don't see establishment going after him. These are the new pronoun people.
But would you call it homophobia for a gay person to think another is not "gay enough" or whatever? I'm not sure what you would call it, but homophobia doesn't seem to fit. Since they are more of trying to brand homosexuality and claim he is outside of it.
It's mostly coming from the rose twitter types. The Dem Socialists and Justice Dems folks. A few Warren campaign folks, too. The Berger douche is ex EW/Justice Dems. There are some in the media who vigorously hate him - Joy Reid (known homophobe), Jason Johnson and Zerlina Maxwell took every opportunity to trash and diminish him throughout the cycle. They were all MSNBC folks so definitely left media.
Oh, it's absolutely unconscious homophobia. Many, many gay people go through a phase of hating who they are. An intense, visceral hate. This is a big driver of the higher suicide attempt rates. It's not all about acceptance from others, a big part of it is personal acceptance. That hate doesn't always go away, sometimes it's buried so we continue to carry it with us. Consider some of the more vocal anti-gay politicians who have been caught in same-sex dalliances. These are prime examples of LGBT people who were unable to escape the self hatred. It's real.
IMO, what it is with those sorts is that they have ambition of their own, reduce things down to identities, and have no identity counter for him. His existence indicates a more complicated political reality than they want people to believe, as they want all politics to be a V shaped roof that heavily slants off the left or right side of the house. Pete is a guy standing on the roof, and so they don't like it. But characterizing all those doofuses as BEING the Far Left personified is giving them too much credit. They're of it, but they aren't actually it.
That's a fair point. The problem is these are many of the more elevated voices in the digital (media) space. I understand spaces like Twitter are not representative of the real world, but it sure as hell amplifies some of the crazier voices from the extremes.
a lot of people felt Obama wasn’t black enough when he first came on the public stage. That was racism as this is homophobia. Trying to categorize a whole group of people as acting the same is bigotry.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA! This is the internet, pal. None of that, now. Also, now we get to bash you for ever changing your mind and not sticking to your principals and just going where the electorate takes you.
Why in the world are Biden's people letting him say anything in public other than "Hello, I'm still alive"?
His standard rambling. This time saying Trump not wanting to wear mask reminded him of kids from his youth who walked around with a ball in their hand and never wanted to hit.
