Then we are just counting down days til his inevitable firing. Decent possibility that Chaney goes after the season. Maybe to Arkansas

Pittman is going to keep Kendall Briles as long as possible

Is that who he hired? He's got a good staff.

We've seen this before at Tennessee, the 03, the 05 and the '11 seasons. It's nut cutting time for that locker room, it's probably why Shrout and Shamburger weren't on the trip.

Leadership starts at the top and it's a poor reflection on the staff. Kevin Burnett and Munoz were the guys that got the locker room right in 04, Cutcliffe and Mayo got it right in 06 and no one got it right in 12.

We'll get to see if Pruitt has recruited leaders in 21, regardless of who the head coach is.

...also words from a walkon who was never going to play. Little sour grapes but he didmt say too much. Losing sucks and there will always be issues when its happening

There's a lot to be said for guys who make it clear to their teammates what's expected of them every day and it can come from guys you don't expect. It's a culture that starts with the coaches and filters down to the players.

An invited walk on that had a few offers he turned down and who started playing special teams last year.

Good kid but dont think he played hardly any in first 2 yesrs. father was one who found Mcnair and his best friend.
Big kid too. Grimes size, but didnt stand out in small div private at Father Ryan. Maybe 35 tackles and a couple sacks sr year.

I just think anytime you get a story like this that is outside the standard, it's at least worth paying attention to.

Maybe it's sour grapes, but the lack of team leadership seems kind of obvious to me.

We lost it all except Trey. Young all over offense except Kennedy, Trey, Ty and JG. 5th year sr qb with 11-20 record is what we were counting on to lead.
Defensively, we are missing upperclassman leadership and experience badly. Young guys and less talented guys dont know how to react when offense goes 3 and out for the 4th time in a row and it affects their play mentally and physically.

not wanting to block all the time is why Wolfe bailed. Its my understanding, Pruitts players he recruited have his back. I'm sure there are some who aren't happy, but every team has them. As poor as the team has looked at times, and people point out KY game, its hard to measure the damage JG caused on the field, and that's mostly on Pruitt for being stubborn and not moving another direction last year when JG said he was coming back. I wished then Pruitt and Chaney had suggested he leave, but was also told they were worried to only have Shrout and early enrollee Bailey in the qb room. Other transfer quit. Maurer was not mentally healthy and there were concerns he may be done, so they felt they needed JG, especially with pandemic limiting everything. What an awful feeling it had to be.

    1. and yet now they are in almost the exact same situation since shrout is leaving.

    2. needing JG because of covid is kind of revisionist. Spring camp started before the reality of covid dawned.

They had 2 spring practices before it was shut down, though. Guarantano should have been a nice security blanket if Bailey sucked or got hurt

again I wish Pruitt would have suggested JG hit the portal then, but he didn't want the risk of having just Shrout and Bailey in the qb room.
