Take Saban out of this equation. Who are the five best HC's in football right now? Which of those five are long term (10 year) solutions? Which of those five would leave their current job? Which of those five would guarantee seven + wins in year one? Which of those five have SEC experience?
Anybody can have a guess right now, but it will not be anything but pure speculation. This will be kept close to the vest.
Just heard Wolken on Memphis radio.... he lauded the hire, which I am sure hurt him. He was asked to give 3 guesses... he struggled... he said he didn’t think Kiffin... but he said that White is unpredictable and while his list may have some names out there, nobody knows what route he could go. He also said he thought the bags of cash was not true and that he thinks TN infractions will end up not being as bad as made to sound.
It was done professionally, and the firm was actually used. Big difference from some of these past searches where firms are used but then they just see what Sexton has on the shelf.
Float the skepticism is warranted but there’s some new sheriffs in town. They didn’t buy an AD who said he could win a natty here to hire f-in Gump.
I think he’s a good coach but North Dakota State is such a machine it’s hard to know what was him and what was the system already in place.
I'm not saying it is impossible. I'm saying I've heard all this before. And every single time, the person hired, was defended as the next best thing to happen to Tennessee, by someone, here. There are no guarantees. I get that. And as such, I'd rather have a fun coach. There is only one fun coach.
