I haven’t noticed #1 as much, but you’re definitely more attuned to hoops. #2 has been extremely obvious all season. Aidoo can abuse weaker posts but is soft against anyone who will bang (or who can contest his height). Awaka has a higher ceiling but is inconsistent. We need to hope we don’t face a dominant big. #3 has kinda been the issue since Grant Williams left, but Knecht and Zeigler are reasonably consistent, and we have a revolving door of potential #3 and #4 scoring options who sometimes go off. This could still bite us at some point, but it’s not something where I feel like “one bad matchup and we’re screwed” like #2
I don’t 100% agree with #1. It happens sometimes. Guard defense is usually pretty good imo. Gainey & Knecht are suspect especially when together. 100% agree about Aidoo. we’ve had some big wins without Knecht going off but we need production from someone besides ZZ. At this point I’m convinced it won’t come from #25
Great, they're going to tease us a bit, like the Carolina game. The fight is nice, though. I appreciate not packing it in.
Teams which spread us out have been able to take us off the dribble with regularity. Then, they kill us down low with our weak presence on the interior (I really wish Estrella had developed more this year. Or, we trusted him more, whatever.).
Before today, Santi was 36.3% (20/55) from 3 since Kentucky at Rupp. He's shot reasonably well, though not that frequently.
I'm about at the point if I were an opposing coach I would run a triangle 2 on Knecht and ZZ and then watch the other three try to figure out what to do.
