52nd at an SEC school might as well be dead last in the country. We've got everything to offer that any other big time program has. Except a coach.
He also had Corey Davis to make him look good. However, I will give him credit for knowing what he had and using it. Butch would have Corey Davis behind Josh Smith on his depth chart.
I'd like to see a comparison of Butch's salary vs. the coaches ahead of him. I'm pretty sure it would reveal what I expect. Butch is paid top 15 (at least) money, produces 52nd place results. There's nothing more UT than that.
http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/ 2016 rankings. Butch is 18th according to this. Even at 18th, Butch has grossly underperformed for what he's paid. No surprise there.
More embarrassing numbers: http://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/index.ssf/2017/05/richest_college_football_progr.html We are blowing away everyone with revenue, but still can't compete.
T-shirt sales have been a boom over the last 4 years. Every time he says something goofy they print it and the masses buy it. It won't last at 8 wins a season.
He was 33 last year with a cupboard full of talent for the upcoming season. 52 or 33, no excuse that we have a coach not in the Top 10-15.
It's not like we cannot afford it. #2 in income and #52 in "coaching" and #120something in overall AD production. As long as the Checkered Overall crowd keeps pumping money into the system, the AD doesn't give a damn about production. I have better things to spend my Saturdays on.
That's sadly what has to happen to force change with these idiots. No desire to excel. Only want to make money
Me too. I'm not going back until it changes either. That's not just my usual mad man rantings. That's an oath. You don't break an oath.
A surprisingly high number of posters on VN either agreed the ranking was appropriate or at least didn't argue that Butch should be at the top of the list. Thread then devolved into a debate about the merits of Butch vs. Harbaugh, which is closer to the idiocy I've come to expect from that place.
