Would love to know how many defense contractors are in his district. The military/industrial complex is alive and well. If these guys are serious about deficit reduction, there can be no sacred untouchable cows.

Defense spending is out of control. Most top heavy force ever and all trying to justify positions.

Just need to spend more money on equipment and technology, less on paper-pushers and military-industrial leeches.

One of the biggest money holes in defense is technology and new equipment. The requirements for new tech and equipment before it can be fielded is pretty ridiculous. 60 minutes did a piece a few years back on a hydrofoil that has been in service for years. They changed the skirt, and it had to go through the entire process again, costing 10s, if not 100s of millions of dollars.

About the only thing seemingly impervious to this process is the trailer park rifle known as the Barrett, which is, I believe, still the fastest concept to deployment weapon ever.

Obviously, there is something wrong with a process that costs that much.
