I loved her reaction. It's really impressive that she can do both. She's obviously a really really good athlete.
The owners opted out, and since participation wasn't guaranteed in the CBA they said screw it. Between the time difference and as invol said the possibility of injury outweighed any potential gain the league saw. I would assume that it was also a tactical move to give themselves a carrot to dangle when the next CBA comes up. I'll eat my hat if the 2020 NHL season starts as scheduled.
