2019 Lady Vols

This would be a signal that we don't actually care about winning. I know some of y'all don't care, but I want Phil to try to make all of our athletic programs competitive, so this is a no for me.

 

Same here. I want everything at UT to be successful

 

I'm tired of us sucking regardless of the sport...I too want to see all our athletic programs compete at the highest levels....go hire the best available, period.

 

I will say, the two names I've heard leaked kinda scream: "you have a choice, a male Final Four coach with no ties to UT, or a former Lady Vol who has failed in her only major coaching gig, what will it be?"

Kinda reminds me of when Brian Gregory was leaked as the men's coach and it was a sigh of relief when they hired Cuonzo instead. People who don't want a male hire might be more amenable if they see the track record of the other option. Or they might just go full LVFL, I dunno

 

And whether you care about the LV program or not, this hire foreshadows how this administration will treat the sports you do care about.

 

If he turned down the job, so be it, but if the only reason Walz is out is because of money, it’s Fulmer’s job as AD to find the money.

Fulmer knows how to work the media.

 

Fulmer made a great hire for women's volleyball. That was the one that was the litmus test for me.

He has given football and baseball everything they've asked for.

Basketball is taking care of itself.

Only thing this hire means to me is if he wants to win or give them what they want. Frankly, I hope he gives them what they want.

 

Sounds like Walz's agent might have used the situation to angle for a raise.

If they don’t hire Geno or Staley, I couldn’t possibly give less of a shit whoever else it may be.

 

Geno is too old and too embedded in Hartford. Would be like Saban leaving bama to come here.

 

What about the Miss. State coach? Seems like he would be a good fit here and we certainly can outbid the Cowbells.

 

State is paying Schaefer $1.6 million. That’s more than Walz makes at Louisville.
