I'm not the expert backyard football evaluator like some in the Vol fan base, but his football looks surprisingly good for a high school student
Had someone say today, UT shouldn't be battling Cal for qbs. Ok, try telling that to a kid who watches A Aron Rodgers and Goff, while UT has put 1 good qb in the league in 20 years
Goff was a mid range 4 star recruit. He didn’t have a ton of offers because he made it clear he wasn’t interested in other schools. He had a killer senior year
Just watched his hudl highlights. Imo --great touch and throws receivers open --can run and will. All snaps in HS from gun or spread. Ran and kept ball on read option some as well. Better runner than Dormady and JG. --can roll right or left and athletic throwing on the run. Also keeps his head up out of the pocket and often makes accurate throws while scrambling or tucks it. Good feel for pocket. Has one aaron Rodgers throw from @ 40 yards out rolling left and drops one on the pylon where only his guy can get it Negative..hard to see the zip and didn't throw too many outs or slants. He floats some balls but only saw it when he had man coverage and put it out there for his guy to get, getting rid of it early. Zone coverage and with tight throws needed, not sure about his outs, comebacks, slants, hitch, ins, etc. Anybody else watch it?
