Back in the day, when a pitcher came back throwing 5 more mph, it meant one thing.

 

It will take a rain delay to beat PED Skenes. LSU coaching didn’t get him that velocity - especially when he’s still hitting 101 after 120 pitches.

 

Skenes is good at pitching a baseball.

Had this exact thought when he mentioned it. Honestly was surprised he even said it because of what it can imply.

 

Yeah, and he’s focused entirely on it this season. It’s not impossible to increase your velo when you go from doing it all (hitting, fielding, catching, pitching) to just pitching.

Still, pumping 100+ in the later innings raises my antenna for sure.

Maui should come back for another year as he still needs to develop. He won’t, of course, because he will get drafted and he can do all of that in minors too, but it wouldn’t be the worst thing for him.

2 runs is probably enough. They’ll extend Skenes to 120 pitches or more as long as we’re continuing to do nothing against him
