Do we have the inside track for Sanders or is it 50/50 with Nebraska?

 

Supposedly 80/20 Tennessee/OSU

 

I imagine if you have options, Nebraska is going to be on the outside looking in.

 

Great class so far…what is everyone’s perspective on how we evaluate highschool recruiting now that the transfer portal is so active?

 

You need 15 to 18 to hit yearly if you retain as well as Heupel has

 

HS recruiting still has to be the lifeblood of the program if you want to sustain long term success. I’d argue it might be even more important than it’s ever been. It’s critical that you build a good strong culture and get guys that fit it and understand it. If you do that, then retention becomes easier and that’s going to become the name of the game more so than ever. TCU won’t be the last team we see hit the lottery and then crash and burn in spectacular fashion the very next year.

 

Retain, retain, retain

 

I would agree…but also think the portal alleviates the necessity for a top 5 class every year. Its still going to be a while before we beat the Bammers of the world at their own game.

I feel like Lane is trying to have a big year this year and then get the hell out of there.

 

This is sort of where I'm at, along with the importance of getting/retaining a solid base of really good HS kids to maintain the core culture.

Pay them and they will come. Develop them and they will stay.

 

Big time DL committed. A lot of big offers. Late riser.

 

I will say from where we were and all the changes that have occurred, we seem to be kicking azz and taking names, so to speak. It warms my heart to see Vol fans and players excited, again.

 

So now we've recruited over Shuler and Manning.

Yep, what he said I don't believe is true but we are in very good shape with Sanders.
