Nobody should be getting offers that young. Everyone thought at the time he was going to turn into an all world QB and he turned out to be just a decent WR in college.
Not sure that’s the best example. He switched positions as a freshman and at least in part stayed put because he was so good. Two time All-American and led the nation in touchdowns. I think he’s still on a roster.
Kiffin was actually fired before he signed. Sarkisian honored the offer, but Sills decided to move on.

This is similar to what Dabo was doing at Clemson. Eventually you get one of these top tier guys to lead you to the promise land. QBs are still the recipe to winning championships.
