Same thing I'm seeing. Dubar might not play much. Lanier is solid but Mashack has been able to lock him down in practice.

 

The fact that we denied Lanier to the Cats was worth a few extra hundred thousand

 

To be fair, he could be All-SEC caliber and Mashack could still be locking him down in practice.

 

ZZs team this year. Last year was DKs. Offense will run through zz. Help D will lead to Lanier and Milicic getting good looks and lanes.

 

I think his shot is gonna hurt him against teams with a pulse. Don’t see him getting that off against decent defenders. Just too easy to block. And not as athletic as Knecht to make them pay going to the basket. I don’t think you can totally shut him down like you could Vescovi by taking away his 3pt shot. But on the flip side I think we can get him plenty of open looks from outside.

Hopefully Carr takes a big step forward.

 

Knecht was a special college player. I did not see that coming, especially with just the 1 season.

I saw it with Grant, but that was over multiple seasons.

 

I love Zakai. I do not love the idea of running the offense through your 5-8 PG. I hope the Milicic kid is that guy in the end.

 

im good with it. Send Felix on a strong on ball pick and roll and let ZZ dish, shoot, drive and lob or drive and dish. Or pick and pop with Milicic or Lanier

 

We get spoiled. And I am sure I will not be posting like this on about March 18th. But feels good to know that we are going to be a Top 4 SEC team every single year.

 

Top 4, and yet historically are underrated when seen as Top 4 preseason.

 

I mean every single year though. Not an average.

 

I’ve said it before, I hope I’m wrong but I’m afraid we’ll appreciate Rick Barnes a lot more when he’s gone.

I’m ready. Gonna try to stay awake and see if DK gets time tonight. Been reading up a little on the Davidson scrimmage and who is looking good early. Barnes sound high on Milicic skills. We will see lineups like ZZ, Mashack, Gainey, new transfer and Milicic. Hit the 3 from all 5 spots. Expect energy from Okpara. He is going to be in attack mode on both ends like we haven’t seen, imo.
Mashack supposedly has improved his shooting and he took a huge step already with his release prior.
Not discounting Gainey being a year older. He played some good minutes in big games last year. Some big shots and some great cuts if I recall when we needed ball movement.
Can’t wait to watch a totally different team and see what’s up.

 

Forgot to mention Lanier went for 27 on 7-12 3s against Davidson.He won’t get the DK light but he’s gonna launch and just a heads up when he misses a few and yall start telling him to stop shooting in the first 10 minutes of game one I’m gonna ask you to hush

 

27!?! Just when I was trying to manage my expectations for this team as Sweet 16 ceiling.

 

I think this team has had some unlucky draws. That's the ceiling, the draws. Hell, last year if we didn't have to replay Purdue the rest of the field looked beatable. And playing teams that we saw in season also is just tough.

 

He had 27 then then Igor had 0 after being raved about. Okpara 20. So it was an odd scrimmage. Sounds like they didn’t even guard Lanier.
