I'm optimistic about the deal. Activision has pretty much stopped trying. Maybe a change in leadership and organization will breathe new life into their IP.
Blizzard is just a shell of its former self. 15 years ago, Blizzard meant the game was going to be top-notch killer, and if it wasn't, they wouldn't publish it. Now its "don't you have phones?" and buggy money-grabbing crap. Of course, this means Call of Duty will be Xbox only...
Microsoft cant make Blizzard any worse than they've been over the last 5 years. The only thing they haven't totally screwed up is Hearthstone plus they have the whole rape-y culture thing they have to fix first and I'd pick MS to clean house over letting Acti-Blizz handle it themselves
Today’s episode of The Daily podcast is talking about this and saying it’s primarily Microsoft’s attempt at getting involved in the metaverse. I still don’t really even know what the metaverse is.
Yeah I don't buy the "primarily" part. the metaverse is a buzz word that podcasts will throw around to get saps to tune in. The deal is to make money. The acquisitions increase the brand power of Xbox and in particular GamePass. Look no farther than that.
