Specifically message boards of the teams their kids play for. Given my understanding of message boards I would probably abstain from it at all costs. Thoughts?
It started with some basic criticism of play (warranted but basic and harmless), then came the idiots with the personal attacks. Then came mama calling out everyone in the thread (those with basic criticism and the idiots). Then came the sheep. Comical
If I was the parent of a Div I player, I would never even read the message boards, nor care what some 45 year old balding man who never played at a decent level says about my son. The internet breeds idiots through anonymity. That said, Croom needs to grow a pair and go up and catch the damn ball. - 45 year old balding man who never played a lick of football
Oh remember when fumblemom would post and all the lemmings would come out and tell her how all true vol fans loved her son.
Its a similar rerun to that. Its one thing to just find an interest not understand message boards and just show up green one day. After the initial ignorance has worn off and you get a better understanding either stay completely out of it or don't act ignorant anymore. The first probably being the better choice. This is not a case of ignorance just like that one wasn't.
The problem is when you open and read. Your first action is a response with defense. I guess some can read it and leave it at that. I couldn't, and would stay completely away after I understood how it worked.
There are few times in life where words adequately capture the full picture. This is one of those times.
