This was one of the inevitable moves that would be made when departments merged. It sucks to have to do, but it still must be done.

Of course, this isn't going to stop everyone from going insane crying about it.

 

Cue the "this is what happens when the football team sucks" jokes.

 

Honestly, there was fat to trim

 

A lot of really good, dedicated people have lost their jobs because of this. It's sad, but understandable.
