According to multiple sources. My father in law is pretty keyed into sc basketball and says they will go hard after him. Should be interesting. . .
SC is going to go after Howland? I don't keep up with west coast teams, what happened with him at UCLA? Did it have to do with the article SI (I think) had last year about how he handled the team?
He sucked at coaching. I love reading Mark Titus bash him. Great stuff. And before somebody says something about his final four appearances, go back and look at the lineups. Russell Westbrook was coming off the bench. Scooby Doo could have won the national championship with those lineups.
Hearing that once it made the rounds through USC alumns the overwelming reaction was not wanting UCLA's sloppy seconds.
If I was UCLA I'd look at Tony Bennett. Was in PAC for 6 years. Only question would be is if he has recruiting ties out west.
Remind me to not hire this loser. Anyone who wants to win big takes the ucla job any day of the week over USC. Will UCLA's lofty standards hinder its current coaching search? - CBSSports.com "I'd rather have the USC job than the UCLA job," one high-major college basketball coach told me recently. "You still get paid. You still get LA. You still get LA recruits and a nice arena. And you get all that without the possibility of getting fired for only winning conference titles. Am I crazy? I think the USC job is better than the UCLA job."
two names that keep coming up are Mark Gottfried and Lorenzo Romar. I can't see both as upgrades over howland really. in particular romar.
even teh bruin fans seem to feel this way. guerrero might have seriously overestimated the interest in the position.
