He would be on his 3rd home in like 4 years. Generally those guys don't work out.

He graduate? How do you make a 2nd portal move?

 

One of those freaks is going to the NFL draft. They play a lot of 2 tight end formations so lots of playing time available there next year. Weird that he isn't staying.

 

He is a RS sophomore so I doubt it.

 

Maybe he could be another Bru McCoy.

 

Or he could be another Lyn-J Dixon

Tennessee HC Josh Heupel says that a majority of what the Vols are going to do is through the high schools. Same time, though, the transfer portal gives the ability to patch within the roster. But Heupel wants to focus on the development of players over a long stretch.

I love that our staff understands you can't build a championship roster living off the transfer portal.

 

Love the philosophy but I'd still like a DB or 2 out of it.

 

So we are going to have lower ranked recruiting classes than the elites. Development is the focus. Ok. But that’s the message. At this point he gets the benefit the doubt. But seems to me to suggest we get a tier at the top and a backup tier. I won’t challenge him. Lots is changing

 

We finished 4th in the SEC. We are also ahead of 2 of the 4 CFP finalist as well. We are on pace.

 

If you include Texas and OK we are 6th. But I don’t sweat it like I used to. I think you have to really prioritize and then take your losses and hit the portal

 

Portal is definitely a good tool to plug some holes. It's just not a good thing to rely on. You have no idea from year to year what it might look like and it's hard to build team chemistry when you bring in a bunch of transfers that are expecting a starting spot.
