Back in my day (2004), they set it up with mesh all around that you couldn't see on TV but kept any sort of liquid or debris from being thrown in.

 

My guess is they still do that.

 

They still do that. You can usually see it during the broadcast depending on the angle.

I wondered about that. It's incredible how much gear they bring. There are two or three semis and then some other trucks parked up on the grass.

 

It is nuts how much gear is brought in for just a game much less gameday

That's pretty freaking good. I can do a good Lou impression in person. VolGuy has sat with/next to/near him on a plane. He confirmed the need for extra-salivular activity protection.
