Brings to mind what Hat was saying when he was hired about his record. Folks argued it was apples and oranges because of the difficulties at LA Tech. Hat said winning is winning, the relative competition offsets all that garbage. Add another point to Team Hatvol's column.
Louisiana Tech actually seems pretty well-positioned in their conference. I'm sure there is a lot of great Louisiana talent that can't get into the SEC.
Mr. Burns: Smithers, is it wrong to cheat in order to win a million dollar bet? Smithers: Yes, sir. Mr. Burns: Let me rephrase that. Is it wrong if *I* cheat in order to win a million dollar bet? Smithers: No, sir. Who would you like killed?
In retrospect, it's hard to see who Hamilton could have hired that would actually have been worse. Tim Brewster maybe?
It really is amazing how massively horrible the Dooley hire was. Befuddling how an AD could pull that off without trying.
I'm on my phone, so I can't post links, but Tauren Poole tweeted "Tennessee would have been better off hiring Al Pacino off of any given Sunday". He was also going off about benching Bray.....wow.
Why do you think at the time no coach would really entertain coming to UT. I remember them scouring the country and there wasn't another coach that would sign up.... As I recall they tried to get Mcbride from UTah, Peterson from Boise state and countless others that wouldn't have any part of it..... Why would all of these coaches that were approached not come to the premier coaching job/ facilty in the SEC or the NCAA for that matter ? For sometimes twice the money?
because Hamilton was the guy making the offer and the stupid ass had the gall to make an exploding offer with strings attached.
