Just got the text saying Eric Russell is headed to Washington State with Leach
It's been expected for awhile
Not upset about it.
Who is going to teach all 11 guys on our special teams to touch the man with ball and miraculously not tackle him, leading to a touchdown? That's rare coaching ability.
Palardy and Darr will be lost
I've heard Derrick Brodus is transferring to Wash. St. for continued tutelage. TIFWIW.
The WW2 vet with no legs who my grandad had as a roommate in the nursing home could punt farther than Darr.
Hearing on VQ that James Shibest, formerly of Ole Miss under Nutt and highly regarded Special Teams coach, may be interviewing with UT in the near future. He has also been a receivers coach as well.
Mediocre hire at best. IMO.
Or teach our kick returners – when you are running down the sidelines with only the kicker to beat, run out of bounds.
His resume looks good. I have nothing else to base a ST coach hire on.
Was coming here to post this.
Great minds think alike, IP.
Just a thought, but why the hell couldn't we hire Terry Fair for DBs and ST? He was a great DB and great returner as well.
Meh. He has chosen a different path than high level coaching. All because someone is a Vol doesn't mean they should be given even greater consideration for a job. Find the best.
^^^^IP is not VFL, imo, jmho.
Joe Robinson will need a job soon.
Shibest is out. Joined Memphis state staff. Thank god.
