Tell you what also doesn’t help on these long drives is the clock not stopping after first downs or out of bounds plays. We had the ball for 4 possessions in the first half. That usually only happens in Madden. Our offense needs possessions and we are getting fewer of them in 3 road games.
Also why the defense, while better, is actually less complimentary this year. They need to be a lot more aggressive and end drives sooner one way or another to increase the number of possessions in the game.
We had 3 offensive plays in the first quarter on Saturday. Even last year's offense isn't going to put up multiple touchdowns in a single possession. And a defense isn't going to get tired in the 4th if the first quarter basically didn't happen.
We have come out looking good a couple of games but then we go sit for 6, 7, 8 minutes and don’t have the qb, Wrs, or Playcalling to get thru it.
Our son is not as excited about attending the UGA game with me as he was originally. I take heart in knowing he wanted to go because his old man is getting old and he wanted to go with me before I can't. It is a win for me no matter what the score.
But last year’s offense struck fear into the souls of opposing offensive coordinators. They had to coach the game as if we were going to score points on every possession, and that makes playcalling and decision making more stressful/difficult. No one fears this year’s offense, regardless of the number of possessions it gets.
Them losing to us will not make a whit of difference to their ability to win a national championship. They have an 8-team playoff starting in Atlanta.
