There isn't a place in the world more ripe for people watching / ridiculing than a shoe / apparel debate thread with people on each side claiming absolutes about the greatness of a particular brand. k-town king, who was erroneously left from our seeding, just said all his peeps wore adidas for UT, but went to the mall to buy they nike and jordan gear to play basketball or go to the club. Took the time to define the "clubs" as those where people wear sneakers. I laughed and left.
It's a simple concept: wear the gear from the company that pays you the most to wear their gear. I don't really understand the advocacy.
It ranks right up there with the following: Ford v. Chevy Republican v. Democrat Baptist v. Catholics Vanilla v. Chocolate Kenny v. Spenny USMA v. USNA Sab v. Eric NYY v. Little Richard California v. Sewage Baseball v. Latent Homosexuality They're all the same things, really.
If some ginger-headed death monster doesn't take the #6 bait, I will shit in my hat and go to the house.
The funniest part is that most of the top level marketing guys in that industry have worked for every company in the business. Guys like Vaccaro and Raveling have made fortunes jumping from side to side and playing up the phony "shoe wars."
Whatever happened to Lockdown? Do you guys realize how fast Eric Berry would look in a pair of Nike Vapors?
yeah watched the pat tillman story (great doc or bio i guess) the other night and they were wearing them.
