It Never Gets Old.

Taking Vandy down in that dump is always a pleasure.

 

There's been wins I enjoyed more from tip to buzzer, and more meaningful wins, but not too many of which I've enjoyed the afterglow more than this one.

Also tell Basilio not to hit the dump button on my little brother like that, it's perfectly acceptable to call Kevin Stallings a piece of shit on the Internets at 1 AM

 

How about Hubbs' drive to send it to OT? I was happy to see that guy come up big right there.

 

Hubbs is really starting to settle in and its coming at a time of need.

Saturday is a big game.

 

I couldn't watch last night but saw the highlights. What a win!

How did we get the ball back with 6 s left down 2? Missed free throws or turnover?

 

Tennessee fouled and Vandy missed the 1 and 1, IIRC.

 

It's better than running them out of the gym. Give them hope, then crush it

 

Think TN was down 4, Punter hit a 3 to cut it to 1 with 6 sec left. TN fouled without any time coming off clock. Vandy hit 1 of 2 making it a 2 point game. Vandy called timeout. Hubbs takes it the length of the floor to score with no time remaining.

It was about as big of "blown opportunity" as I've seen in a long time. Especially coming from a team that shoots a high percentage from the stripe.

 

For Vandy to be up 4 with the ball, shooting 2 freethrows with 16 seconds left and lose the game is nuts. I won't lie, I turned it off right before they shot free throws since the shooter was north of80% from the line on the year. The guy that made 1 of 2 before Hubbs took it down I think was also 80% on the year.

 

We were down 5 with 15 seconds left.

Punter hit a 3. We fouled.

Vandy hit 1/2, so we were down 3.

Richardson got fouled with 6 seconds left, made them both. We fouled on the inbounds pass (before it was even inbounded).

Vandy hit 1/2, so we were down 2.

Then Hubbs' sweet, sweet drive.

 

I appreciate a good 40 point beatdown as much as anybody, but there's something poetic about letting them believe they'd won, listening to their taunts, and then ripping their hearts out and eating them raw.

 

It's just beautiful.

 

Basilio said that the Vandy student section was chanting, "It's great to be a Tennessee Vol!" when the game ended.

Not sure what that means, but it made me laugh when I heard it.

That makes me smile.

 

Haha. Hearing about the Vandy student section makes it even better. A sharp twist of the knife after we put it through their hearts.

On another topic, please tell me we are going to get to keep this coach. I need a bright spot in my shitty sport life.
