Late hit and close enough to helmet to helmet to warrant a flag by typical standards. Aren’t they advised to throw a flag if it’s close and then let replay sort it out? It’s just so damn inconsistent.
So what are the career rankings for Jennings as of right now? He seems to be in position on both receptions and yards to finish very high. Top 10 in both already, right? Could he end up at the top?
And that throw - knowing he was about to take a helluva shot, off his back foot - was a straight [uck fay]ing dime. I’m all for calling out his crazily shitty play, but he deserves props when it’s also deserved, too. Not only for that throw, but how he played yesterday. He is what he is, but he deserves credit for helping us to win that game.
You know, that Bama incident may have been the rock-bottom and catalyst needed for him to grow up a bit. No more half-lion BS.
No doubt. Props to him and Shrout both. Never would have dreamed we'd have 400+ yards of offense with those 2 under center...Groves nailed it, Chaney should get a lot of credit for this too
If a little humility, or simply learning to stop trying to play perfectly, will help JG to be a better QB....then it’s hard to imagine anything could have done both any better, or more fully, than the play at Bama, and some small token of good may come from it.
He’s about 1000 yards behind Joey Kent right now. Having Guarantano instead of Manning will do that. He’s got 129 receptions to Kent’s 183.
Looks like the top four guys in most categories are from the same era. Kent, Nash, Cedrick Wilson, and Price. Then you have Gerald Jones, Swain, and Meachem. Jennings will probably be about sixth right behind Gerald.
If I could tell any playcaller at any level... whether offense or defense... is Jauan Jennings is the prototype for how you call plays, especially in crucial times of the game. don’t think about plays, think about players. I’d find his ass on every third down. Don’t care if he’s triple covered.
Hell, doing that will make them have to triple cover and force another option. It makes perfect sense. Make them beat your best.
Receiving TD record is 25. Not out of the question to tie that if we go to a bowl, but that would be a hell of a season. He’s at 17 now.
Jennings has 129 career catches, 17 tds and 1836 yards. Tennessee's all time receptions is 183 by Joey Kent. I doubt he catches him. Peerless Price is 4th with 147, it's possible he catches him. Joey Kent has 2814 receiving yards, he's not topping him. However, passing Peerless Price at third with 2298 is doable. Touchdown leader is Joey Kent with 25, probably not possible. 3rd is Nash with 20, that's definitely doable. So, it's feasible Jennings will be 3rd or 4th in his career at all the big career marks
Given the shit that's he played through here, there's a legit argument to be made that he's the best even though the numbers don't show it.
I think he's a pretty damn good route runner. He can manage to his himself wide ass open pretty often and it isn't because he's running past people.
