Former Alabama head basketball coach C.M. Newton was on Finebaum yesterday and was asked about Clay Travis's comments on Calipari. Clay evidently said there is no doubt in his mind that Cal is paying players to go to UK. C.M.'s response was, "Who the hell is Clay Travis?"
You are saying Clay Travis doesn't yet have the name-recognition of a [penis] Schapp, Grantland Rice, or Mike Griffith? Interesting.
I am going to need to see some evidence before I entertain the possibility of Calipari paying kids to come to Kentucky.
Stupid question probably. If a talk show host came out and said "Cal is cheating and paying players" with no evidence, could Cal sue him for slander?
You folks that live in Nashville: Who listens to his show? I understand people that, say, listen to Jim Rome, or Cowherd, or heck, Jimmy Hyams for that example... even though those guys are not my cup of tea. But this guy is perplexing. What's the demographic?
He appeals to the lowest common denominator. He talks about boobs, beer, stuff like that. Honestly, I'm surprised more of y'all don't like him.
I'm actually most astounded that CM Newton, who subsequently coached at Vanderbilt and was then a very noteworthy AD at Kentucky, would be identified as "Former Alabama head basketball coach." It's an odd choice, IMO.
1. It's Finebaum's show. 2. His '76 Alabama team gave Knight's undefeated IU squad their toughest test in the NCAAs. He never had a team near that good at Vanderbilt.
1 probably explains it well enough. I'm too young to remember his tenure at Bama; I just always thought of him as the Vandy coach who moved on to UK before retiring to a house Bahamas that I'm probably helping finance.
