Maybe I'm just dense but Indin't understand the outpouring of love for Kiffin. Most of his tweets are misspelled and quite honestly, not even that funny. His coaching is ok I guess but crimony sakes, folks round hurr act like he's the bastard son of Vince Lombardi.
Or, might be that Gundy blows Mike leach in a mullet isn’t winning consistently to the point of titles.
I agree it is Kiffin but I think it is close. But We are about to pay Gundy double the money and people are thrilled.
I don't want this to come off negatively, but Gundy will be a much more popular choice among many UT fans because he's pretty damn red. At least he seems to be. Kiffin, not so much. Gundy is simply more relatable and folks will factor that into his perceived value, consciously or not.
I honestly think that it’s just about the history, but it’s time to get over it. I’d really like to see this poll at VN but apparently my current manifestation there doesnt have enough posts to create it.
I liked Kiffin and the shit talking. They've both got flaws. But damn Kiffin was fun and and us playing good ball.
It's Kiffin hands down for me. The only way Gundy works out is if he hires a top notch defensive staff and does not touch that side of the ball. Focus solely on offense. Kiffin I know will do that. He'll recruit well here, put together a great staff, the kids will love playing for him. The same may end up being true for Gundy, but it's a wait and see with it being a different dynamic in the SEC, and I hate wait and see. I want to know what we're getting out of the gate.
Gundy is an 8-4 big 12 coach. Kiffin is not. Gundy has spent his entire coaching career, besides one year at Baylor and a few years at Maryland, in Stillwater. Kiffin has coached all over the country. Gundy's claim to fame is a mullet and winning the big 12 that one time. Kiffin has beaten a 4th ranked Oregon team while having 57 scholarship players.
