Chizik has at least been able to win games against decent opposition, something that has been impossible for Dooley. Granted, he has had Malzhan and Cam, but he still managed not to **** it up, like Dooley has seemed to be a pro at.
He's served his duty. The real question is how does he handle being let go, or does he try to take the program down with him
Depends on buyouts for me. Dooley might be easier to fire, though depending on how much worse the season gets for Auburn, that could be negligible.
Pretty hard formula to follow. It's not every year that the father of a Heisman quality quarterback decides to engage in the modern slave trade, a top 10 NFL pick caliber defensive lineman that nobody else can get into school magically gets grades when he signs with your team, a Nick Saban team blows an 18 point lead at home, and the kicker of every team you play loses the ability to make short field goals. Good luck replicating that. I'll take my chance with a guy who can actually coach.
That was their fluke. I'd take a fluke NC season of any formula. Granted, I, too, would rather take a chance with someone who has actual coaching ability.
Truth be told, I don't live very close to the mental edge, but if Auburn has the balls to hire a new coach...and Dooley is retained...it may test my sanity.
