I'm already dreading the droning of the Pearlophiles after UT gets hammered a couple of times on the island. They won't realize the same things would have happened under their deposed hero. They'll simply say it's a sign Martin is doomed to failure.

 

Did you see the recent brilliance about CCM apparently knowing what he's doing because the guys he's after can play ball? Good grief.

Shocking that a Division I coach would be able to tell Jarnell Stokes and Alex Poythress can play.

Can we expect the strategy to be to slow the games down as much as physically possible and hope to win it on half court defense?

 

I'll be shocked if that isn't the way UT attempts to play this season.

 

I can hear the Bruce zombies now, complaining about there being no "excitement." This really is the anti-Pearl situation and coach.

 

The thing is, UT was a halfcourt team Pearl's last 2 3/4 years.

 

I've gotten to be pretty good friends with one of the GA's and talked to a former player- they both said BP never worked the guys as hard as CCM has and when they come back for the fall it's going to be a shock what CCM puts them through. I don't know if CCM will win here but he will have them playing tough half-court D for sure.

 

That's encouraging to hear, because it is their best shot of rising above expectations.

 

Yea, quickest way for a coach to make an impact on a basketball team is the defensive side- I would imagine D will be much improved but this team just isn't very good.

CCM is very, very different from Pearl. In fact CCM told his coaches he doesn't want to hear stories about them out all night at bars etc- he didn't ban them from drinking but doesn't want his staff out around town getting hammered.

 

UT's PG situation just got worse- Washpun did not qualify.

Hasn't CCM been coaching the US team out west? Were these workouts recent or staff run shit this way while I am gone?

 

I hope we have a decent year on the football field...I've been relying on basketball to make up for the past few years on the gridiron...looks like that is over for a (little) while.
