People keep posting this, but wasn't that the expected result, given the discrepancy of talent and location? I think Butch would have done the same, if the roles were reversed.
Before last night I would agree with you. But Jones is a horrible coach that falls prey to the big stage. He will be so tight that week he won't have a bowel movement until the following Monday.
McElwain is about 2 trillion times better with X's and O's than Dooley or Butch will ever think about being.
I'm starting to have my doubts. Granted I'll give you it was Dooley's finest day on the sidelines by a wide margin.
The funny thing is butch took a bunch of risk and went for the win that game and then plays conservative as hell here holding back our playmakers.
I agree. As much as Butch sucks, using that logic would be like saying Jones is better than Spurrier.
I remember sitting right behind the Cincinnati section for that game. It didn't take long for " You suck, Butch" "Go home Butch" to become a popular phrases. I would have never known who their coach was without that. First thing that popped into my head when he was named the HC.
Prolly so. The Jones/Dooley comparison is better made by what both did and have done at UT. Jones has failed to show substantial separation in the number that matters to this point.
Dooley actually shook hands as the victor against an LSU team that would wipe the field with the Sooners we faced last night.
Actually he has failed to show ANY separation. Jones and Dooley have identical records through their first 27 games at UT.
