Mizzou quick thoughts

Auburn looked incredibly terrible but I think reports of Georgia’s demise may be premature

 

Really a shame we’re not catching Auburn early in the season. But I’m feeling better about our chances to take three of our last five, with both Auburn and A&M looking vulnerable. This next three-game stretch is going to be brutal though.

 

Auburn was awful but Georgia is stacked on defense. Good litmus test coming for us. Ride the offensive line and let the chips fall where they may. Max protect on passing downs and win 1 on 1’s against bump and run.

 

I don't have many expectations for UGA other than being competitive.

Holding serve against inferior schools in the East and beating Auburn and A&M to establish ourselves at the top of the "middle-tier" in the SEC are what I currently have my eye on.

 

I kind of expect a loss against one of the non-top 3 at some point just because there are so many opportunities to lose. I also will be a little disappointed if we go 0-3 against the big 3.

 

Florida qb situation isn't helping. Trask is working himself into a top pick and looks like a man amongst boys

 

My thoughts:

They played well enough.

Missouri is not very good at the game of football this year.

I expected a little more out of Drinkwitz's offense. Don't know why, but I did.

Secondary was gifted some drops.

Guarantano played well. The running game helped.

Chandler and Grey are good.

This has the potential of being the best team since one of the Fulmer years, but we're a long way from making that call.

I’m glad we get them in December. Hopefully cold and wet.

 

Wait a minute UGA plays Bama week after us. They just dominated a rival that a lot of people thought they would lose. This is the definition of a trap game.

 

Saw Bill Connelly’s computer rankings put the SEC into essentially five tiers. We’re looking at:


Three games against the three teams in tier one (0-0 currently)
Two games against the three teams other than us in tier two (0-0)
Two games against the four teams tier three (1-0)
Two games against the two teams in tier four (1-0)
One game against the only team in tier five (0-0)

Schedule is pretty brutal when you look at it like that, but if we can sweep the bottom half of the league (already 40% there) and win 1-2 games against the top half, that’s a good season.

 

I want 7 wins now to be happy. I’m sure that is being unreasonable. Can’t help it

 

I won't be entertaining any loser talk when we haven't lost. I don't care about the season, I only care about the next game right now.
