11 Police officers were injured in a demonstration in New York on Monday. I hope those that caused harm to the police are arrested (there have been 28 arrests so far, so that seems to be going well).

They are still looking for a person that threw a bottle and hit a police captain in the head.

All violent offenders should be prosecuted. This includes NYC police, who have been accused of escalating otherwise nonviolent protests last year, and some claim this is partly what happened this weekend: https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/nypd-arrests-28-protesters-at-mlk-day-demonstration/2837174/

Below says differently. Also read where a lady was filming, pissed off a group, and police surrounded her to protect her and were attacked.
But sure, blame it on the blue. Im sure they started the trouble yesterday and peaceful people were just minding their own business.

    Can't it be both?

Which happened first, vandalism, throwing stuff and stopping traffic or police attacking protestors..

Vandalism in the form of graffiti probably occurred first. The issue is that only a few individuals out of hundreds would have been doing that, and the situation was escalated. Anyone committing crimes should be punished. Those who did not and are being violently handled by police are victims of police brutality. The law is supposed to be blind.
