Apparently the racist poster is the thing to do now to ask your date to prom - https://www.kfyrtv.com/content/news/Promposal-poster-in-Devils-Lake-called-racists-568146081.html https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...acist-cotton-sign-ohio-clear-fork/3653538002/ https://www.newsweek.com/promposal-...picking-cotton-slavery-michigan-banned-905793
I've heard that anecdotal stuff about the northern states being "worse" than the south when it comes to racism but is that true? I can't imagine that is true.
It is far more overt in the north. I had a guy tell me things once when in Connecticut that would make a southerner blush, and the dude was just sitting next to me at a restaurant. Southern racism has been driven into the more covert, quiet type of racism, because of our history.
The north is far more hypocritical about it, though, and many believe it is simply a "southern thing". But you are right, racism is universal.
Believing it is a southern thing is exactly the same as believing it is a northern thing, or that one is "worse."
Unless they have spent time in NY or Philly, they dont understand how outwardly blatant it is up there. Neighborhoods of koreans, Greeks, Puerto ricans, and blacks abut each other but hate each other
I mean I've not seen any official data, but in college the only people I knew that casually used the n-word were from up there. Plus, lots of them support programs such as Notre Dame, Ohio State, or Rutgers.
